Our Pre-school Unit consists of five bright and airy rooms that children are free to explore and enjoy. Each room, designed to reflect the seven areas of learning, has a different emphasis and the revised Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum is embedded throughout the whole environment. The routine of the day focuses on balancing child initiated play with adult led learning, allowing children the opportunity to access all areas of learning throughout the day. With the doors to the garden open wide, children are free to make independent choices as to the direction of their play.
Each room has different pre-planned opportunities – from the role play or writing area, to the book reading and construction play areas – the choice is theirs! A 1:4 ratio in the Pre-school allows your child to enjoy individual attention and build enriching relationships with the adults who care for them. We believe that the combined 2 to 5 age group creates a nurturing experience with younger children inspired and supported by their elders. The older children value the chance to lead play and often act as positive role models. The structure of the day encourages a good balance between mixed age freeplay and adult guided small group time.
